ADDITIONAL TYPES OF MEDICATION
- Lithium
Lithium is a mineral salt which acts as a mood stabiliser and is used both to treat and prevent recurrent episodes of depression. It is normally taken continually, often along with any of the above. Lithium is also used to prevent episodes of mania. Blood tests to monitor the correct dosage must be taken regularly.
Examples: Camcolit, Priadel and Liskonum. - Carbamazepine
Carbamazepine is an anti-epileptic drug which is also used to prevent episodes of mania and depression. Again, often used along with one of the above. Regular blood tests are needed.
