National Audit of ECT (1996-2000): A Summary

• Establishment of the Scottish ECT Audit Network (SEAN) involving representatives from all ECT sites in Scotland.
• Publication of "ECT in Scotland: A Guide to Electroconvulsive Therapy. The Latest Evidence" - a booklet produced in the light of the ECT audit and intended for patients and the public.
• National Conference held in November 1999 to publicise the results of the audit.
• Support given to the ECT Nurses Forum.
• Provision of a sounding board for the Mental Welfare Commission to raise ECT related issues.
• Began the development of partnership working with groups representing service users.
• Production of an evidenced based reference list for further information.
• Establishment of a web site.
• IT system to facilitate routine collection of ECT data under development.
